Research Blog: Music Video
My Music Video is going to be for the song Six Feet Apart by Luke Combs. This is a country song that directly addresses the ongoing Coronavirus crisis and the social distancing aspect to life currently.
- In most country music videos, the singer is usually the main feature of the video.
- Most stereotypes lead to these music videos to involve trucks, boots, beer, and country scenery.
- Most videos are filmed in and outdoor environment with people playing around or dancing outside.
- Montages are often used as fillers for parts of the song when there are no lyrics or a clear message of what should be going on.
Some camera shots in Country videos include medium shots, long shots, and close-ups.
- Long shots could be a scan across a field as a truck is driving by.
- Medium shots could include someone sitting by a fire playing a guitar.
- Close-ups could be the singer with a microphone as they sing.
The Mise en Scene is these videos is usually a natural ambient with very bright colors. The people in these videos are usually wearing Camo, Jeans, Cowboy Hats/Baseball Hats, and Boots. There is usually a narrative within these videos. This leads the video to not be as based around the instruments and props, and more towards actors, vehicles, and setting. The props that are used in these videos are usually guitars, beer bottles, trucks, and boots.
These music videos are usually of people coming together and celebrating or partying, but because my music video is based off of the pandemic it will have to be fit to the message that my song is expressing.
