Title Research: Watch the Titles Website

Image
This website starts off with lots of information about different great directors. As you scroll through it gives you popular titles that are being used right now and information on them. They then present  featured films, event titles, tv shows, and other categories of titles. They break their website into different subsections which include title sequences, designers, and studios. I like the way they break their website up into the categories because its easy to find what you are looking for. They also have a search bar where you can look up any movie and it will pull up information on it. On the website they have interviews with different directors where you can learn more information on how they decide to create different titles. Overall its a very useful website and I really like the style of it.

Genre Research: Guardians of the Galaxy

Image
What elements of the genre have that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have? The Guardians of the Galaxy has many cool action scenes throughout the movie. This includes intergalactic wars, explosions, fights, guns, ship crashes, and other crazy stunts. It is action packed and has a great storyline. All of the action that goes on in this movie is honestly what helps create the whole thing and the greatness of it. It is so intriguing to see where the next battle is and what happens.  What elements of the genre did the movie have that you liked? I love this movie. It is a cool movie with so much action and drama and overall it just has a great vibe. The intro scene where Starr Lord has to run away from the bounty hunters and fly the ship away whiteout being taken down is super cool and its fun to watch. It is also a super funny movie with lots of jokes and just stupid humor. The soundtrack is also amazing for this movie. What elements of the genre did the movie have...

Genre Research: Deadpool

What elements of the genre have that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have? Deadpool is a super action packed movie. Besides being just an action film, its also a comedy which makes it that much greater. There is lots of weapons, stunts, explosions, wrecks, blood, and high speed action. The movies has a great deal of events and really draws the viewer in to be amazed by the crazy action. What elements of the genre did the movie have that you liked? I love this movie. It is super funny and there are so many great scenes and action packed clips that just make it great. I love the storyline and the way the he was brought up to become the hero/villain he is. I love when they have a super serious action scene and all of a sudden Deadpool cracks a joke and its an awkward hilarious moment. What elements of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you? One thing I didn't like as much was how gnarly some of the scenes were but it didn't bother me so much....

Genre Research: Baby Driver

Image
What elements of the genre have that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have? The movie Baby Driver is an action packed film that has robberies, car chases, gun fights, fighting, stunts, and many more action movie elements. It is a very intense movie with lots of drama and stories. There is also "good guys" and "bad guys", depending on who's perspective you choose to side with. Baby, the main character and get-away driver, is definitely an agonist and is just trying to help everyone with these illegal activities. There is also quite a few antagonist who either want Baby and the crew in jail or dead. What elements of the genre did the movie have that you liked? I love action movies because there is so much going on and they are never boring. Specifically about Baby Driver,  I like all the car chases and robberies because they add lots of suspense and intensity to the movie.  Also, the fact that Baby is kind of this mysterious, self-kept characte...

Comedy Common camera angles in comedies: (CAMS) -The Push (way to far) in/out -The Wait for it... -The Comparison  -The Camera bump -The Perspective shot Common Mis-En-Scene in comedies: (CLAMPS) The soundtrack is more upbeat and positive as opposed to the sinister tracks that are used more often in action films or thrillers. The lighting in comedy films are brighter as to reflect the mood and tone of the film; the brighter, the happier. The make-up in comedies is generally bright and happy. Costume designs can vary but usually the colors are more vibrant and lighter. Common Editing in comedies: Comedy comes down to rhythm, according to Walter Murch.  An editor must look at a scene, find the source of humor, and then assess what is the best visual technique to communicate it. If done correctly, you are that much closer to earning a round of laughter from your audien...

Title Research: Art of the Title website

Image
top10_2020_c-clear.jpg  On this website, I saw many different types of movie and show titles. The way that the website organizes its titles is based off of the title sequences, designed, and studios. They also break these into subdivisions such as recent, recommended, and classic title sequences. This website displays a variety of different types of movies and shows with different title styles. On each article, it tells you the style, year, and category of the article.

Genre Research: Action

Image
The genre of my opening sequence is a action/mystery film. I chose this because I could see myself making a cool film based off of this genre. I think my storyline for this genre is very good and fits perfectly with the events. I decided to make an action film because I believe its easier for the audience to catch on with the film and become invested. I personally really like watching action films so this is exciting for me. On top of my opening film being a action film, it also falls under the mystery genre. Because there is going to be a robbery and investigation, it makes the film more interesting and suspenseful. Action films also have such a wide variety of directions that the film could go in. There are some action films where people are jumping off buildings and riding off into the ocean on a jet ski, and there are some where there is a mafia trying to hunt down someone. Overall I chose to create an action film because I am interested in them and it seems like its going to ...

My Pitch

Image
My main pitch is a crime/action film about the robbery of a prized watch. In this film, there will be a robber who stalks the rich celebrity. The robber sneaks into his car and steals the watch when the man goes inside his house. This then becomes the search for the robber and the prized watch. Another pitch is a comedy film about siblings who messed up their dad and step-moms wedding. They let loose animals and enemies during the ceremony and it becomes a very funny movie. I am mainly interested in creating the first pitch which is about the watch robber. I think this would be a great action film and I have great ideas and plans in creating it. The second pitch about the wedding seems like a good idea too but I believe I could create a better intro for the first pitch. I like action films so it would be fun filming it and coming up with the story line. I also have all of the necessary props and setting for the watch robber so that alone makes it a cheaper and more accessible plan. For...

Starting the final Task

Image
My name is Ivy Heath and I am in 10th grade. I'm an avid boater and enjoy anything out on the water. Some of my favorite things to do include fishing, lobstering, and mudding. I love listening to music. My favorite genre is country because its just the best. But I do mix it up with some rap and reggae. I am apart of the lacrosse team at my school along with blue roses which is my travel team. I am in Boy scouts and Girl scouts. Because of these two organizations I go camping all the time ad love the outdoors. I'm a super chill person and get along with almost everyone. I love hanging out with my friends at the pier and and out on the boat. My favorite subject in school is AICE PE because I like learning about sports. One day I hope to either become a pipe line welder or work on fishing charter boats. I also like taking care of my pet chickens because they are fun to play with. The main reason I'm taking this class is to earn a credit towards my Cambridge diploma. Anothe...

Name: __Ivy Heath______________________   Creative Critical Reflection 1.       How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?   My music video is much different than what I had originally planned and stated in my conventions. I created a whole different vibe and a less “yeehaw” typical country music video. I made it simple and just a smooth and calm vibe. I also did not have tons of for say “country” themed items in my video. It was more just a run-down version of one with more things focused on the message on the song and not simply the genre stereotypes. I did follow what I put in my plan somewhat. I included the flowers and sunrise, which helped create that rundown down which I was aiming towards. I got a very pretty clip of the sunset off my dock and it fit the vibe that I was going for perfectly. The rest of my video I used videos of my family and pets. I took a video of my d...

Music Video

Image
Above is my finished music video on the song Six Feet Apart by Luke Combs. It took me a total of three days to complete the filming and editing process of my Music Video. Thankfully my brother and dad were around the house and able to help me film my video. They were a big help and I got some good videos of them for my video. I also used my pets for certain parts of my video. I took videos of my chickens along with my dog. I tried getting some of my cat but, she didn't do anything and just went to sleep. For a few parts of my video I used old pictures taken before the virus and used them in my video. I used these pictures to help symbolize the parts of the song where it talks about missing how it used to be. I also found some pictures online and ones I had personally taken to represent the pandemic currently going on. For example, when he sings "But the news has all been bad,  And the whole world seems so sad", I included pictures of news heading that have to do with th...

Final editing

Image
Since the last blog, I have gotten tons of work done. I have filmed every single one of my clips for my music video. I have completed the majority of my editing, and am planning on finishing it tomorrow afternoon. I have tried with such a tight window of time to get enough clips to put together and I believe that I have done that. Im still working on my editing to make sure my video flows but, all of the clips at the moment fit together and fit with the song. In order to get the filming accomplished I had to film some at night because I didn't have enough time during the daytime. I had my brother and dad help me with the acting part of the film. It took lots of toys because my brother won't being very cooperative. He keep running away and saying I had to pay him in order to film him. I finally got him to help me and it ended up working out. I am going to finish editing by mending the clips together. I also have to match the song up with the audio. Once i've done that I wil...

Main Filming and Editing

Image
As of today, I have started filming multiple clips for my music video. I got most of the clips for my introduction of the video. I have to add a few more parts to the first half but for the most part I have it finished.  I started by filming the sunrise over my dock and through my yard. This gave a very nature like vibe and fit perfectly with the song. I then recorded some clips with my parents and brother. I got some clips of them hugging and other of them just casually interacting. My brother wasn't super cooperative but I finally got him to accept the fate and just do it. I was only able to get a few clips though because my parents were busy. I am hoping in the next couple of days I am able to get a few more with them and my brother. I need to also find some news paper articles either online or on paper to record, to use for a part of the song. I have some more ideas besides what I have previously stated that I might create and use in my videos but, I am not sure yet becau...

Start of my Filming

Image
So over the past week I have thought of many ideas to create my music video. I have planned out my whole video and I am ready to get to working on it. I have been very busy lately and haven't been able to actually start the filming process. But, if everything goes according to plan I will be starting sometime this week. My filming process shouldn't take too long since the video is only one minute long. I am hoping that my brother and parents will help me with filming and being actors. When I begin filming, I am going to have to make up early enough to film the sunrise, or I could wait  till night and film the sunset. I also will have to find a good angle to film to opening scene at. I have to make sure it gives the right effect to make sure its good. I also have to make sure I have people that I can film or film me. So I have to work around multiple peoples schedules together in order to film my commercial. Once I get all my clips filmed ill be able to put them together and e...

Planning Blog

Props: For my music video, I won't be using an abundance of props. I will be using a few that help get the point across. Such as a guitar, ruler, chair, and newspaper. Costume: In my music video, I will have one main actor who will be playing Luke Combs. Whoever this ends up being, will wear boots, jeans, a hat, and a t-shirt. They other people who will play a part are the mom and a dad in the song, who will be dressing in normal everyday clothing. The other actor that plays the friend(s) will also wear just regular clothing.   Schedule: On 11/14/20, I will establish the music video conventions and how I will go about my video On 11/17/20. I will establish the props, costumes, schedule, location list, and back up plan.  On 11/20/20, I will create the storyboard for my 1 minute long music video. On 11/25/20, I will film and record the necessary shots for my video. On 12/02/20, I will edit and add the final touches to my music video. Location List: My main location will be...

Research Blog: Music Video

Image
My Music Video is going to be for the song Six Feet Apart by Luke Combs. This is a country song that directly addresses the ongoing Coronavirus crisis and the social distancing aspect to life currently. In most country music videos, the singer is usually the main feature of the video. Most stereotypes lead to these music videos to involve trucks, boots, beer, and country scenery. Most videos are filmed in and outdoor environment with people playing around or dancing outside. Montages are often used as fillers for parts of the song when there are no lyrics or a clear message of what should be going on. Some camera shots in Country videos include medium shots, long shots, and close-ups.  Long shots could be a scan across a field as a truck is driving by. Medium shots could include someone sitting by a fire playing a guitar. Close-ups could be the singer with a microphone as they sing. The Mise en Scene is these videos is usually a natural ambient with very bright colors. The pe...

Music Video Intro Blog

Image
I will be working by myself for my Music video. I am working by myself because it is easier for me to complete the project without having to worry about meeting up with other people. It will be easier to bring it all together for me and edit and overall make the video. I also think because of Corona, everyone is restricted on contact and availability. Filming will also be easier because I can direct it all by myself. I also can also use some of my friends and family as actors in the video. This will give me the ability to film multiple scenes with different people and tones. The name of the song I'm choosing is Six Feet Apart by Luke Combs. It is a country song with the story of the difficulties of the pandemic. I chose this genre of music because it is my favorite and I listen to it more than anything else. I also think country music videos are super cool and hopefully I can make a cool one as well. I chose this particular song because I like Luke Combs and the song. Luke ...
